How long do dentures last?

The materials dentures are created from are strong. They can last for decades but may require occasional replacement. Your gums can change. Getting a new denture will make sure that they continue to fit as your mouth alters with time. Generally, you can count on a denture lasting for 5-10 years. After this time, you may find that there are issues with the fit. Many people think that their denture is fine but are then surprised by how much more comfortable their new denture is when they replace the old one.

Will I need to continue seeing the dentist after I’ve gotten my dentures?

Having a denture doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t see a dentist regularly. We don’t just monitor your teeth. We also look at the soft tissues of the mouth, gums, bacterial environment, calculus deposits, saliva and colour changes, as well as screening you for any signs of oral cancer. We value patient comfort, so even if you have had a negative dental experience before, we’ll strive to make sure you enjoy your time with us.

Can I eat anything I want with dentures?

A denture that fits you properly allows you to speak and eat the foods you want to. If your denture stops you from having the full function of your teeth, it’s worth your time to look into getting one that fits better. Our patients report great success with their dentures.

How much do dentures cost?

We advise you to check your health insurance benefits, as many providers will cover dentures. Your out-of-pocket expense will depend on your cover. If you do not have dental cover, we can arrange a payment plan to assist with the cost of your dentures. An investment in your oral health can be off-putting at first. If you consider how many years of use you get from your denture, however, and the higher life quality it gives you, it’s a worthwhile cost.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve been going to Braeside Dental since 2022 and have seen Dr Leith, Dr Janice March and Dr Eric March.  They are all excellent and make you feel at ease.  If you need work done like a crown, they discuss all your options and provide a quote. There’s a hygienist, laboratory and dental technicians on site. Most importantly they’re honest and don’t do unnecessary work.  When I go for my 6 monthly checkup, if my teeth don’t need a clean, they say so.  (My last dentist did a clean, scale, polish and fluoride treatment every six months, whether I needed it or not, which was unnecessary and expensive.)
