Dental Implants

Dental implants are a modern innovation to replace missing single teeth, rows of teeth or whole arches of teeth. Our practice uses 3D imaging and a computerised planning system to develop an implant treatment plan and transfers that via a template to your mouth. The visible porcelain parts are made several months after the surgical phase to allow healing of the titanium parts to the jawbone. We use world renowned Nobel Biocare implants.

Full Dentures

When all the teeth in one jaw are missing, the patient will have a full denture made of white acrylic teeth and pink gums. These should be replaced every 7-10 years and checked regularly to ensure maximum fit and comfort.

Partials – Acrylic or Metal

When a patient has several teeth missing, often the simplest way to fill the gaps is to wear a partial denture during the day. If well-fitted and kept clean, partials can improve chewing capacity and provide an aesthetic result for many years. Metal based dentures generally fit better than acrylic ones and last longer.

Implant Retained Dentures

If a full denture is not successful due to deficient retention, then it may be stabilised using implants in the jaw bone with small connectors hidden under the denture to keep it in place and provide a stronger bite and better function. Shrinking bone over many years of having no teeth can lead to these problems in older patients.
